Banaras Hindu University PMT - 2008

BHU Institute of Medical Sciences:

Few Universities in India can claim the rich history as Banaras Hindu University. Founded by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in1916, BHU has been the alma mater of Who's Who in modern India. BHU is established in a 1300 acre campus in Varanasi and another campus is coming up in Barkachha , in Mirzapur district.

The Institute of Medical Sciences started functioning as College of Medical Sciences in the 1960 with 9 Departments of Modern Medicine. In 1971, the College of Medical Sciences, was upgraded as Institute of Medical Sciences. Today it has 33 Departments of Modern Medicine including 10 Departments of Super-specialties and 8 Departments of Ayurveda. The university has a 927 bed hospital with excellent amenities to serve the patients and provide an excellent learning center for the medical students.


BHU-PMT-2008

The Banaras Hindu University will hold an All India competitive written test for admission to MBBS course (55 seats) in TWO stages:

1. PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING

Screening will be consducted at following centers: Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad

2. PMT-2008 MAIN

The Main exam will be conducted at Varanasi center only.

The admission B. Pharm. course (25 seats) will be conducted in ONE stage:

1. PMT/PAT-2008 Screening.

Examination Dates:

PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING: Wednesday, the 7th May 2008

MAIN examination for MBBS: Sunday, the 15th June 2008

Distribution of Seats:

MBBS
General 40
SC 9
ST 4
Physically Handicapped 2

Eligibility:

QUALIFICATIONS - Passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.

B.Pharm.: As per Government of India Reservation Policy.

AGE: Completed 17 years but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December, 2008 (Candidates born after 1st January, 1992 and on or before 31st December, 1983 need not apply).
