All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is national level exam for admission to MBBS (medical) and BDS (dental) courses in several medical colleges all over India. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi.
Presently, 15% of the total seats in all medical and dental colleges run by the Union of India, state governments, municipal, or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, are reserved for candidates who qualify this examination. (Students of the above two state are not eligible for AIPMT as both these states have opted out of this All India Scheme.
The current scheme of examination consists of two steps – Preliminary and Main Examinations held annually.
