Eligibility

Academic Qualifications:

The minimum academic qualification is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination (see list below).

Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination may also appear in AIPMT for consideration of provisional admission.  

List if Qualifying Examinations

  • The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years of study.
  • The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body.
  • The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination.
  • The first year of the three years’ degree course of a recognised University provided the examination is a University Examination and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination at 10+2 level.
  • B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination at 10+2 level.
  • Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 02 years of 10+2 Study) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board.

NOTE I

  • The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST and OBC) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • Candidates of Indian nationality educated abroad India must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English upto the 12th standard level with 50% marks and their equivalency determined as per regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University.

Subject combinations

Subject combinations required in the qualifying examination for admission to M.B.B.S. or Dental course:  

  • Compulsory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology (with practical exams in each), (any two subjects in case of BSc. examination)
  • Optional Subjects: Mathematics or Other
  • English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the NCERT after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.

Nationality

  • Only Indian nationals are eligible
  • Students from the States of Andhra Pradesh/J&K are not eligible, as both these States had opted out of All India Scheme since its inception.
    • If they claim eligibility they must submit an affidavit (original). The affidavit must be on a Rs 10/- Non-Judicial Stamp Paper attested by a Metropolitan Magistrate/First Class Judicial Magistrate. The affidavit should explain that the candidate:
      • They are not eligible to compete for MBBS/ BDS seats in the States of Andhra Pradesh/ J&K and are not eligible to seek admission in Medical/Dental Colleges of Andhra Pradesh/J&K
      • They are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh/J&K.

Date of Birth   

  • Candidates must be born between 31st December 1983 and 31st December 1991.
  • In the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years. Candidates must be born between 31st December 1978 and 31st December 1991.
  • Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only will be taken as authentic.

Other important information

  • Number of Attempts will be limited to 3 (three) consecutive years.
  • There may be reservation for SC/ST candidates in 15% All India quota MBBS/BDS in 2008 subject to the approval.
